Navjot Singh Sidhu Was Once Sentenced To 3 Years In Jail In A Homicide Case, 8 Other Cricketers Who Have Gone To Jail For Different Crimes
They say Cricket is a gentleman’s game. But how true is that? Time and again we have heard cases of cricketers bringing bad name to the game by involving either in cricket related scandals or off-field controversies.
Right from Navjot Singh Sidhu to S Sreesanth, there are several cricketers who have gone to jail for reasons aplenty. While some have been arrested for attempting to smuggle cocaine, there also have been some who were named in match fixing.
In 2006 the Punjab and Haryana court sentenced cricketer and commentator Navjot Singh Sidhu to 3 years in jail and a fine of Rs 1 lakh. Apparently in 1988, Sidhu was with his two friends when the duo had harsh violence on an old man that led to his death. Although Sidhu was sentenced to three years in jail, he appealed against the judgement after spending a few days in jail and the court ruled in his favour.
